What I thought about He's My Cowboy

 This western anthology contains three stories from three different authors. The stories are connected by location as they take place in Redemption Wyoming, but really they could be taking place in AnySmallTown USA.

The first story from Diana Palmer involves a twelve year old missing persons case and one straight-shooter of an investigator from the state crime lab. I really enjoyed Nemara Landreth and her direct and her somewhat unconventional methods and thought she was a good match with Gil. This is a workplace,slow burn romance that made me smile at the end.

Rescue Ranger Style is a second-chance story between a a man who is way over his head with new responsibilities and the women who really never forgot him. Three teenagers provide lots of drama to this story and I really enjoyed this one.

A Cowboy Kind of Romance is a sweet returning home romance that fits nicely in this trio of stories.

I find these three story anthologies to be perfect for those times when you want a low-conflict sweet romance in a perfect size for reading in an evening or two and a great way to experience some new authors.

What I thought about Tinsel and Tatas

I love it when an anthology contains not one but two stories from authors I am currently reading, and it's even better when that anthology is for a good cause. Way too many women are  impacted by breast cancer in our world today.

I absolutely adored Decidedly with Tinsel by Stina Lindenblatt.  This is a terrific little addition to the By The Bay romantic comedy series from this author. It's just the right size and the type of story I love after a hard day of work when I want something light and fun. 

Wilder for the Win from Serena Bell is another winner for me.  I love the Wilder Adventure series for it's light hearted fun and this one is a winner. It's fun and flirty and just right for when you want something light.

I'm looking forward to checking out some new authors in this anthology as well.  Great price, great stories, great cause.

What I thought about
Love, Loyalty and Mayhem

When I saw the authors contributing to this anthology, I had to get a copy.  Anthologies are always a great way to read favorite authors and find new ones, and there's both in Love, Loyalty and Mayhem for me.

Most of the titles in this anthology are rather short, which is great for those times between books or when there's the reading slump (we all get them). 

In this anthology, I started with Laura Kaye's Ride Deep, another installment in her Raven Riders MC series.  It didn't take long to get reaquainted with the characters in this series, and the central figure in Ride Deep is Jagger, a brother who was wrongly imprisoned and then released  months later.  During his incarceration, he was involved in some classes taught at the prison, and his instructor known as "Teach" is suddenly in Slider's garage after being run off the road.

With different circumstances upon them Miranda aka Andi aka "Teach" looks at Jagger in a new light and when he steps up to provide the protection she needs, well, things get very frisky between them.  

I really enjoyed this story, although it was a short five chapters, and I'm hoping there will be more to their story soon.  I'm also looking forward to reading some of the other titles in this anthology.  It's a steal for the price. 

Definitely pick this up.  Recommended.

What I thought about Rogue Affair  

Anthologies are great to find new authors and get something new from favorite authors. There's both for me in this anthology.  A collection of stories with political themes and situations, aka resistance romances, Rogue Affair is a second volume of contemporary romance stories with rich diversity.

I'm going to review two stories from Rogue Affair. Tamsen Parker's Dedication of a Lifetime is a quiet story that captures perfectly those times in a long term relationship when you're just not seeing eye-to-eye with your partner. Sean and Isaiah are both concerned about the direction of the country. It's impacting them both in their personal and professional lives. It's clear that there is so much at stake and so much emotion regarding what is happening that Sean and Isaiah can't get around their feelings to communicate and that's causing a strain. A big one.

When Isaiah comes home and makes a proclamation that stuns Sean, they both have to decide their priorities if they want to move forward together. This was a very sweet slice of married life and captures the political climate in a very interesting and romantic way. I loved it.

In Personal Proposal by Ainsley Booth, Brianne is running from twitter notoriety and ends up working for a reclusive outdoor photographer, Astrid Dane. Astrid has had her share of relationship disappointments and she's not really into being around people. But Brianne catches her attention and respect and their relationship builds on that.

Ainsley Booth is a new author for me and I found myself really liking this story. Even though there's a spark between the two women early on, they get the job done and then they get it on together. The political aspects of the story are woven into the details and I liked how that was presented. A very sweet and enjoyable story about two people connecting. 

There's something for everyone in this anthology. I love the timeliness of the content, and a release date just after election day. These are hopeful and diverse tales, and we need these kinds of stories of right now.

Definitely recommended.

What I thought about For the First Time

Wow!  This anthology is chock-full of awesome little love stories that will keep you reading until you get to the end.  I started this a few days ago with the intent of reading just a few of the stories, but I've finished one story and have just gone on to the next.

The individual stories are just the right size for a quick read, and they are full of sweet love stories from a variety of genres and backstory.  Here's a quick rundown of what I've read so far:

Looking for a Complication by Tamsen Parker

When Kinsey accidentally "doors" Astrid and then invites her in make amends for the accident, both ladies find that they are attracted to each other. Having been burnt before, Astrid has some real reservations about getting involved with a straight girl, but she's in for some surprises when these two go out for drinks. I really loved this story.  Astrid spells out her fears in a way that grabbed my heart, and Kinsey is just sweet in how she interacts with Astrid. It has everything I want in a love story in just a few short pages.

Delay of Game by Jen Frederick

This friends to lovers story deals with two life-long friends. Lisle Cunningham swore she wasn't going to get married, but as she approaches the age of twenty seven, she realizes two things -- she doesn't want to be alone, and she's in love with her best friend Wyatt. They've been friends forever, but she's not confident about taking this to a new level, thinking that Wyatt only wants her as a friend.  How they get together is really sweet, and their friends add a touch of fun. Really enjoyed this story!

Her First Choice by Lynda Chance

Tyler Copeland is at the bar and on the prowl for his nightly conquest, when Whitney walks through the door.  He recognizes her from an interaction that happened years ago, and that's all he needs to make his move on her.  She recognizes him too, and pretty soon they are sizzling up the sheets.  The cuteness of this story is in what happens a year later.  Loved it!

A Lake George Christmas by Debra Presley

This was light on the conflict and heavy on the deep love and commitment of two soulmates that have found each other.  A sweet addition to the anthology!

This anthology is a steal at 99 cents!  It has everything I want in an anthology -- lots of great authors and love stories with titles from authors I love already and some new authors I haven't read before. Each story packs a nice little punch to the emotions in just a few pages.

What I thought about '90s Playlist

I love stories that are inspired by music so this anthology was just perfect for me. And it includes authors that I've read before and like/love and also some new authors that I'm happy to try out.

The stories are short and also entertaining. Not only is there a song from the 1990's that inspired the story, but there's also little reminders of the culture of those days included in each story, which I adored. Activities like raves and ecstacy use are not whitewashed and I loved that in Creep.  Hookups turning to something more is the theme of Brighton Walsh's My Strongest Weakness and Amy Jo Cousins contributes an interesting F/F story that makes me love her storytelling even more than I already do.  Audra North delivers on Worthwhile with a tale of love-lost and love-found while on a study abroad trip.  And Jennifer Blackwoods takes the best friends brother story to a different level with a game of Spring Break BINGO that makes shines a spotlight on the friend zone.

All the stories and fun, quick reads -- just perfect for when you are between books or just looking for something that isn't too intense or demanding on your time. 

I really enjoyed '90s Playlist, probably because I can relate to this time period. While each story was anchored by a song from that time period, there is a universal quality to the stories that was appealing to me.

My Review of Falling From the Sky by Sarina Bowen

 When we meet Hank "Hazardous" Lazarus, he's a cocky snowboarder, a risk junkie, someone that probably wouldn't give Dr. Callie Anders a second look.  But his life is about to get turned upside down after a serious accident ends his career. 

Dr. Callie Anders is a good girl, works hard, and genuinely cares for her patients and her friends. But her heart has been beat up when she catches her live-in boyfriend in compromising position, forcing her to put up some serious walls around her heart to protect herself.

When their two worlds collide, things are touch and go. Callie's definitely attracted to Hank, and Hank is interested in Callie, but they both have some emotional baggage to get over before they can make a go of it. 

I think it's awesome when love stories develop gradually, until the chemistry between the two parties just won't be denied.  In Falling from the Sky, both Hank and Callie have to get over their fears of rejection if they have any chance of making it work, and it takes a little convincing to get there.  That was a fabulous part of this story.  It's the obstacles that make the love story so very satisfying.

I loved this story, and it made me want to read the rest of the series.  I'd pick up a copy of this anthology just for this golden nugget.  This is a definite standalone but I'm thinking you'll want to know more about the secondary characters in Falling From the Sky, and I definitely recommend the rest of the series as well.

So go grab a copy of this anthology!  You won't be sorry!
