Being blind doesn’t hold Ava Bennet back in the least. With her work, her shopping, and public transportation within walking distance, she’s totally at home in the big city. But she’s not in the city now. Temporarily back in her small home town to help her father has her struggling in a big way.

Luke Walker is finished running from his troubled past. Finally home after years in the military, he’s ready to make amends with his family and set down some roots. But adapting to civilian life is a lot harder than he ever expected.

She has no intention of sticking around. He has no plans to run again. All they have is one month together. Will it be enough for Luke to prove he’s everything Ava needs—in light, in darkness, and most importantly, even in the rain?

What I thought about Waiting on the Rain

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book in the McKinney / Walker Brothers series from Claudia Connor and I was not disappointed. This was one of those books that I raced to the end, and turned right back around to read it again.

Fresh out of the military, Luke Walker is having second thoughts about his retirement and wondering if he made the right decision. Nothing feels comfortable to him until he meets Ava Bennett at his brother's wedding. There's plenty of spark between these two from the start, along with plenty of caution. She's headed back to NYC and he's staying at Hannah's indefinitely. I loved their hesitancy, but when they can't resist each other any longer, there goes those sparks again.

Claudia Connor conveys Ava's life as a sightless person with sensitivity. It really made me think about how Ava experienced love in a world that she couldn't see. Her perspective was just so interesting to read, especially the parts regarding her past relationships.

Luke has his own issues he's trying to work through and Ava makes that much easier, but her return to the city looms over them until a situation pushes Ava into a decision.  Be prepared for some strong emotions toward the end of this!  There's a terrifying action sequence that I absolutely loved and and ending that left me smiling.

There's plenty of the Walker and McKinney clan especially Hannah and Stephen for fans of the series, but this also works as a standalone.

Loved this one.

An ARC was provided. This is my honest review.

And don't forget to grab this collection!
