What I thought about Clayton Falls Series
This new adult contemporary romance series contains three stories set in the fictional town of Clayton Falls, North Carolina. These interconnected stories have a common theme of finding love in this little hometown.
In Derailed, Molly returns home after the death of her fiance, only to run into her high school sweet heart, Ben. Molly isn't ready for another relationship and Ben is supportive and patient with her. Molly is dealing with a lot of guilt over situations from her past, and Ben is supportive as she deals with her feelings.
Things get a little more heated in Veer. Molly's friend Becca comes to Clayton Falls for a rest and although it seems like she has it together, she also has some lingering issues from her past to deal with. The local cop, Gavin is ready to give her some help, if he could only get over being so southern to Becca's northern roots. It's a bit of slow building romance, and Ben's brother Jake provides some of the tensions as he becomes very friendly with Becca.
That's one of the things I liked about this series -- everyone has a different view of their home town.
In Wrecked, the final book of the series, we get Jake's story. He's a bit sad and troubled and in the hospital after an accident. When his nurse Emily helps him feel a bit better, they are drawn to each other, even though she's trying to keep him at a distance. But the course of true love won't be stopped and Jake and Emily find ways to help each other through the darkness that is in their lives.
All of these stories are fairly predictable romances that leave you feeling good. The fade-to-black love scenes make this series suitable for a younger group of readers. If you are in the mood for love stories from a small town, this might be the series for you.
