THE DEVIL’S CROWN

PART TWO

Monica James

With the enemy dead, my throne awaits my return. But the reason I’m still standing is being held captive by another foe.

I’ll move heaven and hell to find her, but when I do, everything changes forever.

Ella is broken, broken because of me.

The only way to save her is to return to the ruthless leader I once was.

A war has been waged, and to win, I need to kill every last traitor and rebuild my kingdom to make her feel safe once more.

However, this war is like no other. And my enemy won’t stop until one of us is dead. But he doesn’t stand a chance. None of them do.

I’m a bad man. And I’m okay with that.

This is my world.

My rules.

I’m the goddamn king, and it’s time to adjust my crown.

What I thought about The Devil's Crown Part 2

The Devil's Crown Part 2 picks up right where part 1 left off and delivers a satisfying conclusion to this dark romance. I could barely wait to get my hands on it and I couldn't put it down once I started. When I say dark, Monica James doesn't hold back at all in this series.

Alek is focused on two things --- regaining his empire and his woman who is now in the hands of his enemy. He knows what it will take and he's got the means and motivation to take on whoever gets in his way, which makes part two just that much darker. But he's also more than just a driven villain, he also has deep feelings for those he cares about.

Ella delivers when it comes to fighting for her man, even if that means getting down and dirty as much as Alek.  Her and Alek spend a good amount of time apart which only ups the ante when it comes to the drama and angst.

The Devil's Crown Part 2 has plenty of action, twists and turns which I love in a dark romance.  It's an art to put just the right amount of all of the elements out there so that it isn't too dark and has the right level of romance to redeem the actions of the characters.  Monica James does a really great job of doing just that, and Alek is a perfect anti-hero.

This is not a standalone.  I recommend reading All the Pretty Things trilogy first to get to know some of these characters. Readers should also obviously read part 1 to know what's going on.  Overall, a very satisfying dark romance duet and a terrific follow-up to Saint and Willow's story.

An ARC was provided. This is my honest review.
