Release Blitz, Review, Excerpt & Giveaway:Wheels Up (Out of Uniform #4) by Annabeth Albert

“Sexy, sweet and heartfelt, Annabeth Albert's Out of Uniform series is a fresh take on Navy SEALs that will delight and entertain romance readers.” --Layla Reyne, author of the Agents Irish and Whisky series.

Title: Wheels Up
Series: Out of Uniform #4
Publisher: Carina Press
Release Date (Print & Ebook): November 6th, 2017
Subgenre: M/M Contemporary Military Romance

Book Blurb:

Their love is forbidden, but their hearts aren’t listening to rules and regulations…

Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a twentysomething hell-raiser, he’s his SEAL team’s new XO—and a man with a secret. Or seven. He's kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semi-anonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distraction—they're taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time.

Petty Officer Wes Lowe has a smart mouth, a take-charge attitude and an uncanny ability for making things go boom. The life of an enlisted man isn't always enough to satisfy him, but one wild, no-questions-asked weekend with his online love comes close. When a transfer order comes in, Wes feels ready and centered. He'll make a good impression on his new SEAL team and keep his growing feelings for Dustin on the down low.

But as they log more time online and some very real emotions surface, Dustin and Wes struggle to pretend they're just a harmless fling. And when his commander introduces Dustin to his team's newest member, they're in for the shock of a lifetime…and a crushing disappointment: their difference in ranks means even a friendship without sexual contact could end their navy careers for good.

With their hearts on the line, Dustin and Wes may not survive their next mission, let alone find a way toward a future together.

Short Excerpt

Dustin wasn’t nervous. Just because Wes had put it out there that they could go back to his room didn’t mean they had to. Didn’t mean his pulse had to rev like a personnel carrier, all loud and roaring in his ears. Didn’t mean his fingers had to suddenly have nothing better to do than shred napkins. And it definitely didn’t mean he needed to keep up the idiotic rambling. Damn it, Strauss, remember who and what you are.

What I thought about Wheels Up

Dustin has been exploring his bisexuality via the online app, Joe4Joe which links service men up for cyber sex.  When the opportunity to meet in person presents itself,Dustin has to decide whether he wants to take his explorations to the next level. It's not an easy decision for him.

While Wes wants to meet Dustin in-person, he also has some deeper reservations that we don't get to read about until later in the book.  I really liked that about Wheels Up. Both Dustin and Wes had some personal issues to work out in this, and that provides some of the conflict to the story.

The rest of the conflict comes in the form of regulations. When Wes gets reassigned to Dustin's unit, things get even more difficult for the guys.  It's forbidden to fraternize with your direct reports, especially if they are enlisted. Dustin risks serious consequences and so they go back and forth with a lot of "no we can't see each other" to sneaking around to be together because they just can't stay away.

Wes and Dustin have a dynamic sexual relationship, made all the more interesting by the roles each of them play in the bedroom. It wasn't what I expected and it felt very fresh and exciting. I really liked these guys and I found myself hoping they could work something out.

I loved Dustin's journey figuring out that he can be happy and what he needs to do to get there.  It isn't an easy road for him, nor is it for Wes. That's what I loved about Wheels Up -- each man's personal journey to happiness.

Wheels Up is a great addition to this series.

ARC Review:Michael's Wings by Tiffany Reisz

MICHAEL'S WINGS: AN ORIGINAL SINNERS COLLECTION

Griffin has just popped the question—yes, that question—and Michael doesn’t have an answer. He flees town for New Orleans to see his confidante and sometime-domme, Mistress Nora. Will a weekend of beignets and beatings help him untangle his knotted-up heart?

Thus begins "Michael's Wings," the eponymous novella that kicks off the latest entry in Tiffany Reisz's LAMBDA Literary Award-winning* Original Sinners series.

This companion collection to fan-favorite The Angel also contains six previously-published stories starring Mistress Nora's favorite angel and Griffin—his master, his true love, and the sexy-as-hell bane of Michael's existence.

NOTE: If you haven’t read the Original Sinners series, this collection of connected short stories and novellas isn’t the place to begin! Start with The Siren (available now from Mira Books).

*The King (LAMBDA Literary Award 2015 Winner — Best Gay Erotica)

Full List of Stories Included:
  • A Better Distraction
  • Christmas in Suite 37A

What I thought about Michael's Wings

Sigh. My favorite character in the Original Sinners might be Kingsley, but my favorite couple is definitely Griffin and Michael. They hold a special place in my reading heart, and I devoured Michael's Wings months ago on the day I received approval from the publisher via Netgalley, and I've read it again before writing this review.

In the title story, Michael goes to Nora for advice when Griffin decides to pop the question. He's just...not sure. And so begins a heart-to-heart talk with Michael, Nora style. It's kinky and sweet and goes right to the heart of Michael's worries because she knows what Michael needs as much as Griffin does. The friendships between these characters is what makes the series special for me, and it shines in Michael's Wings.

This story was like visiting with old friends, so if you haven't read the full Original Sinners series, you should probably get on that first. I don't want to spoil any of this for the reader, so I'm not going to say much more than this book is worth the price, just for this very special story.

Included are additional Griffin and Michael shorts that you may have seen in the past on Tiffany's website or social media special offers. It was great to read those again, and it makes Michael's Wings a sweet collection of sexy, kinky stories of friendship and love.

Definitely recommended for fans of the series. Loved it!

Only problem is, her list of sexual fantasies winds up in the wrong hands, and now she’s got a sinfully sexy SEAL offering to help check off every last wild and wicked item. Resisting Ryan is futile, but protecting her heart? It’s necessary…

The Heat is On

Matt thinks he’s a bad boy…until he finds himself face down on the floor during a bank robbery, arguing with a sexy blonde who wields her sharp tongue with surgical precision. Problem is, Matt’s not going anywhere…

Cover Reveal: Decidedly with Love (By the Bay #3) by Stina Lindenblatt

Fake boyfriend Rule #1: never fall for your fake girlfriend.

Oops.

Emma Lovejoy runs Aphrodite’s Boutique, a store that specializes in all things love-related. A store that she adores with all her heart, and which is at risk of being shut down and replaced with a condo development.

Playboy Travis Hamilton was raised by his feisty, well-meaning grandmother, who is determined to help her grandson find The One. But when most women he meets tend to be puck bunnies or women only interested in his hockey-player income—and let’s not forget the nutcase of an ex-girlfriend—why bother?

Travis realizes only a fake girlfriend will deter his grandmother’s matchmaking scheme. Too bad the one woman who can help him is the sexy redhead who wants to assist him as much as she wants her eyeballs to be dunked in hot sauce and barbecued. To convince her, he promises to help her with her own dilemma. But sometimes fire and ice really do mix. Now Travis has to decide if love is in the air—and if together he and Emma make something hotter. Something stronger. Something real.

Brotherhood. Club. Family. They live and ride by their own rules. These are the Raven Riders...

Wild with grief over the death of his wife, Sam “Slider” Evans merely lives for his two sons. Nothing holds his interest anymore—not even riding his bike or his membership in the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. But that all changes when he hires a new babysitter.

Recently freed from a bad situation by the Ravens, Cora Campbell is determined to bury the past. When Slider offers her a nanny position, she accepts, needing the security and time to figure out what she wants from life. Cora adores his sweet boys, but never expected the red-hot attraction to their brooding, sexy father. If only he would notice her...

EXCERPT:

Cora had such an easy way with Ben. With both of his kids, really. God, Slider admired that about her. Especially when nothing about him was easy, and hadn’t been in years.

Ben yawned and peered up at Slider. “You’re gonna stay with me, aren’t you? “

“You better believe it, Benji. And remember what we talked about. Nurses are going to come in a couple of times throughout the night. Just to check on you. I’ll be here the whole time,” Slider said, leaning over the boy so he could look him in the eyes. There was nothing like the unconditional love and admiration of a kid. But that didn’t mean Slider shouldn’t have to earn it. And he hadn’t done nearly enough these past few years, had he? He pressed a kiss to his son’s cheek. “Now shut those peepers.”

Ben giggled. “Your whiskers tickle Dad.” Slider ran his hand over the facial hair on his jaw. One more piece of evidence of the mess he’d become. But at least it made Ben laugh. The boy looked up at Cora next, his hand snaking into hers and tugging her closer. “You’re staying too, right?”

“Wild horses couldn’t tear me away,” she said, squeezing his hand.

Ben made a face. “There are wild horses here?”

Cora chuckled and Slider shook his head. “Peepers. Closed. Now,” he said.

The boy was asleep in an instant.

After not sleeping much today himself, Slider probably wasn’t far behind him. Still, he nodded at the small sleeper sofa and quietly said to Cora, “You can take that. Nurse said there are pillows and blankets in the closet.”

She shook her head. “No way. You haven’t slept. And I’m kinda attached here,” she said, glancing at where Ben still clutched her hand. “Seriously, Slider. Get some sleep while you can.”

Frowning, he pulled out the sleeper, which was only a little wider than a twin-sided bed, found the bedding, and lowered the lights. “How ‘bout this. We’ll take shifts.”

She smiled. “Sure.”

On a bone-deep sigh, Slider sat on the bed’s edge and kicked off his boots, and then he went horizontal still wearing his jeans and T-shirt. Cora laid her cheek against her arm, her face turned away from Slider toward Ben, her blond waves a soft cascade against the white hospital blankets.

And damnit all to hell, but it played with uncomfortable things inside his chest to see her like that. Things he didn’t want played with. Not ever again.

So he closed his eyes. And woke up two and a half hours later when the nurse came into the room to check Ben’s vitals. The kid hardly stirred, but Cora was still awake and making small talk with the woman about how her night was going.

“Your turn to get some sleep,” Slider said when they were alone again.

“Don’t worry about it. Go back to sleep.”

“We had a deal,” he said, his voice like gravel. Years of exhaustion did that to a man.

“Later,” she said, her expression soft with sleepiness. He forced himself into a sitting position, his stiff movements making him feel ancient. “You need it more than I do.”

He shook his head and pushed to his feet. “I’m not hogging the bed all night while you sit up in that hard chair.”

“Don’t be stubborn,” she said. “Sleep.”

He arched a brow. As much as he wanted to lie back down, he wasn’t doing it at her expense. “It’s your turn.”

“Slider—”

“Cora—”

She sighed. “I’m trying to take care of you, too.”

What I thought about Ride Wild

Cora Campbell has been taking care of Slider's boys since she arrived at the Raven Riders MC with Haven. She's starting to get worried about her place in the club and her long term prospects of staying with the MC.

Slider still feels the ache of his wife's death and betrayal, and he's not looking for any relationship. The only relationship that matters is with his boys, Sam and Ben and he's very grateful to Cora for all the love she gives them.  When the boys suggest that she move in to be their nanny, Slider has no other choice but to agree.

Once Cora and Slider are together in the same house, their feelings for each other blossom into something beautiful. Really.  I loved these two together.  Slider's reawakening is just awesome and it looks like everything is clear sailing...that is until Cora uncovers a dog-fighting operation that just might be linked to old enemies.

I stayed up all night to finish Ride Wild, once I started it I couldn't put it down.  Everything just flows so naturally with this story, and there's so much happiness as this family comes together. It isn't all smooth sailing, but that just makes it all the more worth it.

I really like this series.  Even though the MC has a mission of those in abusive relationships, they still have an edge that keeps them interesting.  There's a nice cameo from the Hard Ink crew as well, which is always a welcome scene!

Even though you can probably guess most of what is coming in Ride Wild, it's just a sweet story told well that held my interest all the way to the sweet ending.  I definitely recommend this MC series.
