SYNOPSIS

She doesn't date players...
Sophie loves her life: she's travelled the world and lived by her own rules. But when she finds out about her grandfather's heart attack, she drops everything and boards a plane to Ireland. Two weeks, that's the plan. Until one look at her childhood nemesis has her rethinking everything. She's sworn off athletes, but she might just give him a try...

He's the biggest player of all.

Sex and rugby. Those were the only two things Declan cared about, right up until his first love waltzed back into his life. Even as he slept his way through Dublin, he never stopped thinking about her. Never stopped wondering if she thought about him, too. So even though he's never gone after a woman the way he chases down opponents on the field, this time, he won't let her get away.

On the field, he's invincible, but she just might break him.

EXCERPT- TRYING SOPHIE by Rebecca Norinne

I dropped my eyes and stared at the floor. “I want you, Declan. Really, I do, but I’m worried about being just another notch on your bedpost.”
Pushing off the window, he crossed the room in three purposeful strides. Wrapping his large hands around my arms, he squeezed them gently. I raised my eyes to his.
“How can I make you see that’s not true?”
“I don’t know. Maybe you can’t.”
When I looked away he groaned and loosened his grip. Trying a different tactic, he asked, “What are you most afraid of?”
Man up Sophie, I thought to myself. If you’re not brave enough to have The Talk, you’re not mature enough to have The Sex.
I couldn’t help how I felt and if we didn’t get this out in the open, it might always be between us. And despite this being a difficult conversation, it was more important to tell him how I felt than to keep it bottled up inside and resent him in the future because I hadn’t been honest with him from the get go.
I took a deep breath and squared my shoulders. “The thing I’m most afraid of is you’re going to be with me today, then turn around and fuck someone else three days from now. I’m worried that if we do this, it’s not going to mean the same thing to you that it’ll mean to me.”
He closed his eyes and exhaled loudly as he pinched his fingers around the bridge of his nose. When he opened them, he dropped his hand and leveled an indecipherable gaze on me.
“How can you think that?”
“I know it’s not fair of me to judge you for your past, but you don’t exactly have a solid track record here. Tell me I’m wrong. Convince me that when we walk out of here you’re not going to think, ‘That Sophie, she was one hell of a lay. Who’s next?’”
“Is that really what you think of me?” he asked somberly.
“That’s what I was talking about earlier,” I answered sadly. “I don’t really know you, do I? What if you forget about me tomorrow?”
“That won’t happen.”
I continued as if he hadn’t spoken because if I didn’t, I’d never say what needed to be said.
“I know I’m leaving soon and less than an hour ago I told you we should just enjoy each other while we had the chance, but I think I’ve been fooling myself. I can’t be casual with you, Declan. If we’re going to be together, it has to be more than just sex.”
My eyes dropped to the patterned rug at our feet and I held my breath, waiting for him to laugh, scoff, or otherwise indicate I was being completely unrealistic with my expectations. Which is why I was taken by surprise when he lifted my chin with his finger and, staring into my eyes, chased away all my doubt and fear.
“Done,” he promised, finality in that one word. “And just so you know, there was never any question that’s what this would be. I’ve thought about this for so long, wanted you as much as I’ve ever wanted anything. I have no intention of screwing up one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.”
He rubbed his rough, calloused thumb across my cheek. Dropping his eyes, he cradled my face in his hands and watched his fingers stroke along the apples of my cheeks. Finally, his eyes landed back on mine. “Do you have any idea what you do to me?”
I shook my head because I couldn’t seem to find my voice.
“You ruin me.” He dropped a soft kiss on my lips. “Just completely destroy me,” he added, taking the kiss deeper.
“Let me show you Sophie,” he whispered, his gaze locked on mine. “I promise it’ll be good. I’ll be so good to you.”
I nodded and he licked the seam of my lips. Opening to him, felt the tangle of his tongue against my own, the taste of him imprinted forever on my memory.
“Yes,” I whispered and kissed him back, hungrily.
He scooped me into his arms and carried me to the bed.

Release Day ARC Review:Glass Tidings by Amy Jo Cousins

GLASS TIDINGS releases on December 5th, 2016!

Eddie Rodrigues doesn’t stay in one place long enough to get attached. The only time he broke that rule, things went south fast. Now he’s on the road again, with barely enough cash in his pocket to hop a bus to Texas after his (sort-of-stolen) car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, Midwest, USA.

He’s fine. He’ll manage. Until he watches that girl get hit by a car and left to die.
Local shop owner Grayson Croft isn’t in the habit of doing people any favors. But even a recluse can’t avoid everyone in a town as small as Clear Lake. And when the cop who played Juliet to your Romeo in the high school play asks you to put up her key witness for the night, you say yes.

Now Gray’s got a grouchy glass artist stomping around his big, empty house, and it turns out that he . . . maybe . . . kind of . . . likes the company.

But Eddie Rodrigues never sticks around.

Unless a Christmas shop owner who hates the season can show an orphan what it means to have family for the holidays.

What I thought about Glass Tidings

I was immediately sucked into this book as I read the opening scenes.  Eddie is a drifter, someone who travels light. He's chosen this lifestyle because it suits him.  He doesn't really stay in one place too long, and he's on the way to Texas for their Renaissance Faire season where he makes glass trinkets for the faire goers.  He thought he might try settling down, but when that doesn't turn out the way he plans, he borrows a car, drives until it breaks down, and then proceeds on foot to the nearest town.  On the way, he witnesses a hit-and-run that could have serious consequences.

After giving his statement to police, the cops need him to stay in town until they can investigate the hit-and-run.  Eddie ends up in a room at Grayson's house. Gray's a friend to the town cop and owner of a small Christmas shoppe in the town of Clear Lake.

What happens between Grayson and Eddie is interesting and very different from what I've read in other romances.  Their dance is very unique in that both of these characters aren't exactly good at communicating, and both are loners.  It takes them some time to learn how to interact with each other, even though there is some definite caring and attraction going on here. I loved that about Glass Tidings.  It felt so fresh and real and at first I thought these characters were so very different that they wouldn't make it.  As the story progresses, I changed my mind because it was clear that there was a common ground between them, and Gray and Eddie just had to figure it out.

I've been reading a few holiday novellas of late and one thing I need is for some sense of magic and Glass Tidings gave that to me, just not the way I expected it.  And that is a great feeling as a reader, to be surprised. There's a lot of magic in that, too.

Overall, I really liked this story and characters. I did feel that it was a bit wordy in the middle, which is why this isn't a 5 star rating.  I also very much liked that the focus here is on the relationship, and not so much on the sex and I really liked that about Glass Tidings. It worked for me and I absolutely recommend this holiday novella.

Release Day Blitz & Review:Dashing Through the Snow by M. Leighton

Need some fun to brighten up the holidays?
Need some heat to warm up the cold nights?

Well,this is just the thing.

DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW by M. Leighton
a sexy, snowy Christmas story is LIVE!
Priced for the holiday at 99¢

A dash of perfect for the holidays!

Dilyn Hart hates Christmas, so when her boss (and ex-boyfriend) hands her an assignment to interview champion snowboarder and gorgeous playboy extraordinaire, Dash Grainger, on Christmas Eve, she takes it. There are several things she doesn’t plan for—a surly driver, a chalet in the middle of nowhere, a freak snowstorm—but the biggest surprise of all is Dash himself.

Dash Grainger lives for the high, and so far in his twenty-six years, he’s never met anyone or anything he loves more. Nothing has ever thrilled him as much as slick snow, cold air, and breakneck speed.

Until he meets Dilyn.

But one perfect night doesn’t mean clear, blue skies the next day. Some storms can’t be weathered.

Christmas might just be one of them.

GET YOUR DASH OF CHRISTMAS CHEER TODAY!

What I thought about Dashing Through the Snow

In this holiday novella from M. Leighton, Dilyn gets to spend her most hated holiday interviewing some rich playboy in the Colorado mountains.  Doesn't sound like much of a hardship, does it?  The problem is that she's struggling with the ending/possible rekindling with her ex-boyfriend and Dash, the playboy, is out of her league.

But her resolve to keep it professional falls apart when Dash puts his charm to work on her, and in spite of her best intentions, Dilyn finds herself falling for the playboy after a sweet and steamy night in front of the fire.

In the light of the morning however, Dilyn is faced with having to make a decision, one which she comes to regret and that's when the holiday magic come back in full force.

When I read a holiday novella, I want some magic and Dashing Through the Snow delivers!  There's a ton of chemistry between Dilyn and Dash and while Dilyn and Dash will have to made some serious decisions on who they want to be with, this is really a lovely holiday tale of finding love which left me feeling happy and wanting more of this couple.

Dashing Through The Snow had everything I want in a holiday novella.
