Blog tour & Review:Sugar Free by Sawyer Bennett

Sugar Free (Sugar Bowl, Book #3)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: October 11, 2016

Synopsis:

Sela and Beck’s deliciously sinful tale of sex, lies, and vengeance reaches its explosive conclusion in the final chapter of Sawyer Bennett’s Sugar Bowl trilogy, which began with the novels Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush.

For years Sela Halstead dreamed of revenge, but the quest for payback has been anything but sweet. Now, once again, she finds herself at the mercy of Jonathon Townsend, his hands crushing the very breath from her body. And even though she escapes with her life, Sela fears she may never recover. In desperate need of shelter and comfort, she runs to the one man she can trust. Beckett North has stood by Sela since the beginning. But can he handle the brutal truth?

Beck will do anything to protect what is his—and make no mistake, Sela belongs to him, heart and soul. The passion between them runs hot, even as their world begins to unravel. With the legacy of his ruthless business partner hanging in the balance, Beck stands to lose everything: his fortune, his family, his freedom. But each touch of Sela’s mouth on his skin, her nails down his back, makes it harder to let her go—and it might not even be his choice to make.

What I thought about Sugar Free

In this conclusion of the series,  Sela and Beck must deal with the consequences of Sela's meeting with Jonathan after things go very badly.  It's Beck to the rescue as he tries to protect her against her wishes.  Sorry, no spoilers here!

There are many secrets exposed in this last part of the series, and I was completely engaged in how Sela and Beck were going to navigate the very difficult situation they were in, starting with an uncomfortable funeral and even more revelations about Beck's parents that just made for a super messy circumstance.

I loved this series, mostly because it really felt fresh to me. It's not your typical romance.  Even though I did see some of the reveals coming, I didn't see them all.  It's a "love conquers all" story that really kept me on the edge of my seat as the heat gets turned up as the cops move to solve Jonathan Townsend's murder.

If you are looking for a steamy revenge story with a good touch of suspense and mystery, this might just be the series for you.

About the Author:
author-photo-sawyer-bennett

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Mary’s strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

Excerpt

Hey everyone! I’m so excited for the release of Bound to Submit, the first official book in my brand new and super-hot Blasphemy series! And today, I’m sharing an excerpt from the book, an erotic second-chance love story featuring a tormented Dom and a veteran amputee heroine – this is my first story with a female veteran and I adored writing Kenna’s character! I hope you’ll enjoy this taste and pick up your copy – and welcome to Blasphemy!

Now, here’s a peak at the emotion and connection between Griffin and Kenna in Bound to Submit – enjoy!

“You came for me,” Kenna whispered, peering up at Griffin standing at her front door. She hadn’t thought she wanted to see him tonight after their fight, but now she knew she was wrong. Because, God, his rugged face looked a whole lot like coming home.

“I did,” he said, stepping closer. So close that his heat warmed her body. “And I’ll keep doing it until you tell me to stop.”

“Griffin,” she whispered, the intensity in his voice stirring so much inside her. Feelings, memories, desires.

“Aw, baby, come here,” he said, pulling her into a bear hug so comforting that she choked out a little cry from the sheer relief of it.

Kenna buried her face in his broad chest and breathed him in. Her arms circled his strong back, and then they stood there for a long time, just holding each other. How could he make her feel so much when they’d been apart for so long? Why did this feel so natural with Griffin despite those years? How could she find a moment like this one, of such peace and solace, after all they’d been through?

She didn’t know, but part of her wondered if the whys and hows mattered. Some people waited their wholes lives to find even a fraction of what she felt in that moment. Maybe that was what mattered. Maybe that was all that mattered.

“Can I please come in?” he asked, his lips against her hair.

She nodded, motioning for him to enter. “It’s, um, it’s not much.” She looked around the small studio—it looked like a dorm, only without any personality or color.

“It’s where you are,” he said. “That’s all that matters to me.”

He was killing her with his sweetness right now, he really was. “Um. Okay.” She grasped the end of her stump, shielding it with her hand. “Can I get you something to drink? I think I have—”

“Baby.” He got right up in her space again.

"What?”

Baby,” he whispered, leaning in close. His lips brushed her cheek. “You don’t have to entertain me. You don’t have to hide from me.” Gently, he pulled her fingers from what was left of her forearm.

She released a shaky breath. “It’s not pretty.”

He shook his head and made a noise low in his throat. “No, it’s not. It’s fucking beautiful. Because it’s a part of you. A part of you that got injured in the service of your country, Kenna. Your arm is a damn badge of honor as far as I’m concerned. Come here.”

A warm pressure expanded within her chest. What was he doing to her? Because right now, his words were wrapping around her as tight as his ropes ever did.

What I thought about Bound to Submit

Marine veteran Kenna Sloane returns from service with some serious challenges.  She's lost an arm and faces constant pain.  While everything isn't terrible, she still struggles with being home, especially since she lost her best friend in the same IED explosion. When she realizes that submitting in a BDSM scene might just be what she needs to ease to her mind and relieve her emotional and physical pain, she decides to return to Blasphemy,  a club she knows well from her pre-Marine days.

It's where the master she loved rejected her.

Griffin's had some time to think about what he lost when Kenna walked out of his life and he's going to work hard to make up for breaking Kenna's heart.  As they reconnect together, Kenna and Griffin are going to have to figure out just what their new relationship means.

I was hooked on this series with Hard To Serve, and Bound to Submit is a steamy addition to the series.  I loved how Griffin treated Kenna when he got his second chance. He still understands what she needs and he's happy to provide it through his bondage play.  But he's ready for more, and Kenna doesn't want her heart broken again.

Everything worked for me in this novella.  The heat level was high, as was the emotional connections between the main characters that went beyond the walls of the BDSM club.  Griffin knew exactly how to balance his dominant personality with Kenna's needs, and it was easy to fall for him.

Great addition to the series.  The friendship of the twelve masters makes for an interesting group of friends and I'm eager to read their stories.

They say she’s crazy.
She’s not.
They don’t know the truth.
She does. The problem is, she doesn’t always remember it.
But I do.
My name is Dare DuBray.
I’m in love with a girl who is is erratic and beautiful, and a little bit mad.
But that’s ok.
We’re all a little mad, aren’t we?

Love couple

What I thought about Dare Me

It didn't take long for this little novella to remind me of how much I loved the Nocte Trilogy by Courtney Cole. In Dare Me, Calla is struggling with memory loss and while Dare knows what they shared, he has to be very careful with her delicate mind.
That doesn't keep him away from her, it brings them closer together. There are some lovely and steamy moments between Calla and Dare in this novella and it was a great addition to this series.

Perfectly sized for when you want a quick read!
