Release Day Review: 5 stars for Into The Storm (Evidence:Under Fire #1) by Rachel Grant

Available Now!

As a storm rolls in, a team of elite Navy SEALs arrives at a remote lodge for a wilderness training exercise that becomes terrifyingly real…

Xavier Rivera planned the exercise down to the smallest detail, but he didn’t plan the arrival of archaeologist Audrey Kendrick—a woman he shared a passionate night with before betraying her in the worst way.

As the storm is unleashed on the historic lodge it becomes clear the training has been compromised. Trapped by weather, isolated by the remote wilderness, and silenced as communication with the world has been severed, unarmed SEALs face an unexpected and deadly foe.

Audrey and Xavier must set aside their distrust and desire and work together to save a team under fire and survive in a battle against the wild.

What I thought about Into The Storm

Wow! What a ride! This book is non-stop action from the beginning to the end, with a great dose of sexual tension between the two main characters.

Audrey Kendrick is the park's archeologist caught in a dangerous military exercise during a devastating winter storm in the Pacific Northwest. Xavier Rivera is a military officer in the midst of a special forces training, but memories of his past with Audrey are both remorseful and hot, hot, hot. I really don't want to give up too many details because it's just so much better if you read this book instead of my synopsis.

What I loved the most about this book was the exciting pace of this story as the two protagonists try to get out of their situation. It's suspenseful and filled with a sexual tension between them that was just amazing! I haven't been this excited reading a romantic suspense title in a very long time.

There was plenty of content to stroke my STEM loving brain, along with a lovely story between Audrey and Xavier. This book is definitely on my best of 2022 list. It's one of the best romantic suspense stories I've read this year.

Read when Xavier and Audrey meet in

Before the Storm
(a prequel to Into the Storm)

Navy SEAL Xavier Rivera visits historic Lake Olympus Lodge on a scouting mission for a top secret training exercise. In the lodge, he meets smart, attractive park archaeologist Audrey Kendrick. There are many reasons he should ignore the immediate, simmering attraction between them, but in the heat of the moment he has no restraint.

Audrey is drawn to the secretive man who helps her when she’s in a bind, and she can’t resist taking a chance on a night of passion. But their one red hot night together leads to secrets and betrayal…

USA Today bestselling author Rachel Grant worked for over a decade as a professional archaeologist and mines her experiences for story lines and settings, which are as diverse as excavating a cemetery underneath an historic art museum in San Francisco; surveying an economically depressed coal mining town in Kentucky; and mapping a seventeenth century Spanish and Dutch fort on the island of Sint Maarten in the Netherlands Antilles.

In all her travels and adventures as an archaeologist, Rachel has found many sites and artifacts, but she’s only found one true treasure, her husband, David. They met while working together excavating a four thousand year old site about to be destroyed by the expansion of a sewage treatment plant in Seattle. Despite their romantic first meeting, she has no intention of ever setting a story at a sewage treatment plant.

Rachel Grant lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and children.
