What I thought about The King

The King picks up right where The Prince leaves off, with Caden becoming King and as such, he must distance himself from Brighton. Meanwhile, Brighton has her own agenda to find the evil Fae who tortured her and her mother. It involves some extremely dangerous activities and when Caden finds out, he’s really upset with the fact that Brighton is doing so. He wants her safe.

Through all of this, the attraction between them hasn’t died out, if anything it makes them hotter for each other, until one day… well, you can guess what happens! It’s steamy and hot, and everything for both Caden and Brighton. But afterwards, there are lots of mixed signals and
Brighton is knocked for a loop with additional news that just breaks her heart.

Brighton doesn’t get much time to nurse her heart though, because she’s got her own hell as the tables are turned on her. This is a really tough part of the book, but it’s also exciting, tension-filled and super engaging from this reader’s perspective. I was on the edge of my seat, turning the pages and wanting to know how everything was going to end. Jennifer L. Armentrout takes things to the edge here and I absolutely loved it every word of it. And that’s not all. There’s a great ending (you may see it coming) that left me breathless and impatient for the next installment in this story.

The King has everything that I love in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s stories – great characters, plenty of tension, and a reluctant hero that is about to have his world imploded. How does it get any better than that!

Definitely recommended!
