What happens when a boxer finds chemistry with a geek?
Parker Brown can’t believe she needs to hire a fake boyfriend. When she landed her dream job in renewable energy, she thought she’d be entering a world at the forefront of progressive thinking. But the head boss prefers to promote employees who are “settled.” Thankfully, she’s found the perfect candidate, a fellow intellectual looking for some quick cash. What Parker gets is his protective big brother—Rhys Morgan. The tall, muscled ex-boxer with a foul mouth shows up just as her boss does, and now she’s stuck with the manipulative jerk.
Responsibility weighs heavily on Rhys. Now permanently out of the ring, he’s trying to hold together his late father’s gym and keep his younger brother, Dean, on the straight and narrow. To save Dean from himself, Rhys takes his place, ready to give this society girl a piece of his mind. Instead, he finds an opportunity. Even though they can hardly stand each other, posing as Parker’s boyfriend is a win-win deal. She gets to keep her job, and he’ll charm her star-struck boss into sponsoring his gym.
Problem is, they can barely keep their hands off each other. And what started as an easy deal isn’t so easy anymore. Because what future can a rough ex-boxer, afraid to open his heart, and a polished society geek, who has sworn off real relationships, possibly have?
They say opposites attract. These opposites are about to combust on impact.

Release Blitz: Win Big (Wynn Hockey #3) by Kelly Jamieson

When your name is Wynn, victory’s the only option. . . .

"Kelly Jamieson is an auto-buy for me.”
—New York Times bestselling author Carly Phillips
Win Big by Kelly Jamieson is available now!

Everly Wynn: As the only daughter in the Wynn family of hockey heroes, I never shared the ice with my brothers—or the approval they got from my father.
And that was before the scandal that ruined my life at sixteen.
Now that I’ve put all that behind me and built a successful career, the last thing I need is another hockey player in my life.
Especially one like Wyatt Bell.
He’s an arrogant, fast-living party boy. I hate how he gets by on his good looks and charm.
So why can’t I get him out of my mind?

Wyatt Bell: Life is short, and you’ve got to live it to the fullest. I learned that the hard way.
So on the ice, I always play to win, and on the town, fun and flirting are my game.
Because it’s better to laugh your way through the pain than to let them see you’re hurting—but I’ll never stop wishing I could find someone to share the real me with.
Something about Everly Wynn makes me think she could be the one.
But all she sees is a hockey jock hooked on good times.
If she didn’t take herself so seriously, maybe she would take a chance on being happy.

5 Stars for Man Cuffed (Man Hands #4) by Sarina Bowen & Tanya Eby

A new comedy from the USA Today bestselling duo!

Mac
A good cop can always spot trouble. That’s why my senses started pinging the moment I met the hottie next door. The neighborhood may never be the same. First she confuses me for a male stripper and tries to remove my uniform. (The guys on the force will never let me live that down.) And then there’s the breaking and entering.

I don’t know what to do with her. My libido has a few ideas of its own, though. Bad, bad ideas.

Meg
Hey, it’s not my fault that Hot Cop’s nightstick gets excited every time we see each other. And I can’t help that someone broke into his apartment.
Fine—that last thing was totally my fault. And I intend to make amends. So when he needs a date for his sister’s wedding, I’m there. This is right up my alley. I’m an actor. By the time it’s over, his entire family will believe we’re a couple.

Even him.

Warning: may cause unrestrained giggling in public. Contains: a bridezilla with a turkey leg, a flash mob, and a growly hero.

What I thought about Man Cuffed

I'm just going to say it -- I loved Man Cuffed. It was light and wonderful and a great escape read for me after a rough day at work.

I adored Meg. She's upbeat and focused on what is right for her. She's got a great sense of humor and is willing to deal with some uncomfortable circumstances between acting jobs. I just loved her take on life. When she meets Mac during the a bridezilla bachelorette party, well... you need to read it for yourself. It's a great meet-cute.

Mac never forgot meeting Meg, and it's a surprise to everyone when Mac and Meg end up neighbors, which is great because they get to see each other, and not-so-great because Mac knows dating a neighbor isn't a smart thing to do since he's not a long-term relationship sort of guy. He wants her, she wants him, but there's a whole bunch of feelings from past hurts that Mac needs to resolve first.

There's an incredible spark between these two characters, and in the very best way of romantic comedies, Mac and Meg eventually get together. They do have a few things to work out and that does happen (although it involves a boat and a jumper) and brings some healing to Mac's bruised and battered heart, which paves the way for something really good for him and Meg.

Man Cuffed is a feel good read with plenty of humor, a dash of drama, and two people who are perfect for each other. This is on my list of books I read when I need a pick-me-up and it left me with a smile on my face wanting more of these two characters. While there are mentions of past characters in the series, this works very well as a standalone.

Overall, a very entertaining and satisfying romance!

Review:The Bear's Fated Mate (Borealis Bears #2) by Vivian Arend

The Bear's Fated Mate
Book 2: Borealis Bears Series
Release Date: November 19, 2019

He’s going to pick someone perfectly wrong for him—because fate isn’t in charge of his world!

As head of security for the family company, polar bear shifter Alex Borealis has intel warning something big is about to happen. His prime suspect? Tantalizing, infuriating Lara Lazuli, youngest daughter of Borealis Gems’ main competitor.

But when mating fever hits, he decides she’s the perfect one to turn to. They’ve got chemistry hot enough to melt the polar ice caps, but he doesn’t trust her enough for a permanent connection to form.

Being with Alex is one step shy of torture for Lara. As a wolf shifter, she scented the truth the instant she met him months ago—he’s her mate. But she’s not about to trap anyone into being with her, especially not a man who thinks she’s up to no good. Add in her own suspicions of wrong-doing in her pack and Lara’s caught between heaven and hell.

But tangled sheets lead to real communication, and a bond of friendship forms that neither expected. When Lara asks for help, Alex finds himself living in the pack house, scaring off random Alpha wolves and fighting at her side.

Because the mating fever knows a thing or two about fate and forever.

What I thought about The Bear's Fated Mate

What a fun series!  I jumped into this as soon as it appeared on my e-reader knowing I'd get a sweet shifter romance that would make me smile, and The Bear's Fate Mate did just that.

Alex Borealis is the next in the family to experience the "mating fever" and instead of his usual avoidance of females, he decides he's going to go for it with Lara Lazuli, the daughter of the competition.  What he doesn't know is that she knows he's her mate, but wants him to figure it out on his own.  So it's going to take some time for Alex's head to get into the game, as he's not really looking for a mate, even though he's been told by his scheming grandfather that he  has to get mated when the next mating fever hits.

What I absolutely adored about this series is the internal conversations between human and animal shifter!  I had to chuckle every time and it is really the most charming aspect of this series. Vivian Arend does a great job of bringing the shifter into the story that are fun and entertaining.

Alex and Lara are terrific together as they find their way to their true destiny as mates.  It takes a few turns to get there, and it's worth every page!

If you are looking for a sweet shifter romance that is long on fun and short on major drama, this might the series for you.  The Bear's Fated Mate is a nice, compact story that is a quick read, and yet has all the paranormal elements that make it unique and fresh.  I just love this series so far!

About TWIST OF FATE:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes a new story in her Heartbreaker Bay series…

When the one you want…

Daisy doesn’t believe love is ever-lasting, so it’s ironic as hell that she parlayed a business degree into a wedding planning business. More ironic still is her latest job bringing her back into contact with the man who’d taught her that love can’t last.

Is the one you can’t have…

To say Diego has been taught the hard way to bury emotions is an understatement. But when he’s called home to help the brother he hasn’t seen or spoken to in years, that’s one thing. It’s another entirely to also come face to face with the first woman he ever loved. First and only…

Can love conquer all?

Daisy’s learned to depend only on herself, and Diego is and always has been an island of one. And yet when they’re together, even when they’re bickering, still wary and haunted by memories of what was … it’s magic. The question is, how to find their way back to each other…?

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

BOOK TRAILER

Excerpt

Daisy smiled at Tyler and then turned back to Diego. “It’s nice to see you.”
What the hell? He’d fallen asleep on the boat and was dreaming this, right? Nice to see him? Was she kidding? He’d told her that he loved her, and then she’d left. Moved to New York for college without looking back. He opened his mouth to remind her of that fact, but Rocco stood up and tugged on his arm.
“I think we should talk outside.”
Diego wrenched free without looking at him and turned to Daisy. “I need to talk to you.” He had no idea what game she was playing, but he intended to find out.
Daisy opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, Rocco once again put a hand on him.
Diego looked down at his arm. Rocco was older by two years, but at six foot four, Diego had four inches on his brother—most of them harder and leaner. Rocco with his bulkier mass outweighed Diego and was more badass when it came right down to it, but Diego was working on a lot of resentment and anger, so it’d be a solid match.
And a fight long overdue.
Rocco dropped his hand from Diego and shoved his fingers through his shaggy, black hair that was the same as Diego’s. Apparently, Rocco had learned some restraint over the years, but not too much as he jerked his head to the door and lumbered out.
Diego followed without looking back.
Which wasn’t easy because Daisy had looked…different. Among other things. She’d always been girl-next-door pretty. And part of what Diego had loved about her was that they’d had a lot in common. Both had grown up on the wrong side of the tracks, the poor kids who didn’t have a penny to their name.
She was still girl-next-door pretty, but there was a whole new air about her now, as well. She was dressed in a blue suit dress and matching heels, looking professional, smart, and incredibly sure of herself—which he had to admit, was attractive as hell.
But she also looked like someone he didn’t know. Certainly not the type of woman who’d mesh with a guy who lived on a boat.
“Well,” he heard her say to Tyler as he walked away. “That went about as well as expected.”
In response, Tyler laughed softly, apparently unconcerned that his fiancé was about to get the pretty punched off his face.

What I thought about Twist of Fate

Diego returns to San Francisco for his brother's wedding and finds out his ex-love is the wedding planner. It's a bit tense until their first kiss, and then Diego and Daisy are suddenly thinking they might pick up where they left off. They do have some past trust issues to resolve first, but it's clear that the feelings are still there.

I adored Diego's brother Rocco and his fiance Tyler. They were a sweet part of the story and I found myself wanting more of their story.

I love the Heartbreaker Bay series from Jill Shalvis, mostly because it takes place in my favorite city and the characters are engaging and interesting. While I did like Daisy and Diego and their second chance story, Twist of Fate is just too short to develop deep feelings for these characters, which is why I'm rating this 3.5 stars.
