Three days ago, all Maisy Norgate had was a stack of bills, about a
gazillion jobs, and her sunny-as-hell outlook. Now, thanks to an uncle
she never knew about, she’s inherited an ornate skeleton key with
absolutely no idea what it’s for―or why she has it. Which is exactly
when a ridiculously handsome guy claiming to be an angel shows up at her
door and all hell breaks loose…
Nephilim Rhys Boyce cannot believe that
Maisy is the new Keeper of the Key. Why would anyone bequeath this
warm, bubbly redhead the key to Hell? And to make matters worse, she’s
given the key to the first person who asked for it. A demon. Yep, Maisy is determined to make his job―not to mention some seriously inconvenient temptation―as hard as possible.
First a half angel with a very human chip on his shoulder must find a way to convince Maisy that angels and demons do exist. Then Rhys will have to break the really bad news…that she might have accidentally ended the world.

What I thought about Imperfect Angel
In Imperfect Angel from Christi Barth, Maisy gets a mysterious inheritance that upends her world and what she knows of it. At first, she's not sure what's going on. Then she meets Rhys, a Nephilim, half angel, half human who clues her in on what she's been tapped for and it's a doozy! Think gates of the underworld and all that! It takes Rhys a while to convince her that it's all real and he can help her, all the while he's falling for her.
There's plenty of cute banter all along the way here which brought some lightness to what could have been a very dark paranormal tale. But Maisy is fun and Rhys needs to have some, so they are very compatible in that respect.
Rhys's job to protect Maisy comes with challenges from the start -- she gives the inheritance away and that's not good! But these two complement each other so well. Rhys is grumpy and Maisy approaches life very differently. She's full of sunshine and optimism, all the things that Rhys has in short supply. They really do need each other.
I liked Rhys's brothers-in-arms, Zavier and Gideon too, as well as Lissa, Maisy's friend. This is a fun story that is just perfect for the Halloween season.
The world building is good here, although the reader does get a lot of the world details right up front and there's a copious amount of nasty paranormals out there in this story. But that's part of the fun!
I enjoyed this story and I'm hoping there will be more in this world from Christi Barth, now that she's created it. Imperfect Angel is a paranormal romance with a nice splash of humor and comedy to keep it from getting too heavy.
About the Author
Christi Barth spent years performing in musicals, singing about love and
giving people a happy ending in every performance. Then as a wedding
planner she spent every day immersed in romance. Now - she writes it!
It
is exciting to be able to share her love of the theatre with the world
through her writing. Plus, her parents are thrilled that - in some
fashion - she's still getting use out of her master's in music. She
lives in Maryland with the absolutely best husband in the world (sorry
ladies, it's true!).
