Review:Win Big (Wynn Hockey #3) by Kelly Jamieson

Win Big(Wynn Hockey #3)
by Kelly Jamieson

When your name is Wynn, victory’s the only option...

Everly Wynn: As the only daughter in the Wynn family of hockey heroes, I never shared the ice with my brothers—or the approval they got from my father.
And that was before the scandal that ruined my life at sixteen.
Now that I’ve put all that behind me and built a successful career, the last thing I need is another hockey player in my life.
Especially one like Wyatt Bell.
He’s an arrogant, fast-living party boy. I hate how he gets by on his good looks and charm.

So why can’t I get him out of my mind?

Wyatt Bell: Life is short, and you’ve got to live it to the fullest. I learned that the hard way.
So on the ice, I always play to win, and on the town, fun and flirting are my game.
Because it’s better to laugh your way through the pain than to let them see you’re hurting—but I’ll never stop wishing I could find someone to share the real me with.
Something about Everly Wynn makes me think she could be the one.
But all she sees is a hockey jock hooked on good times.

If she didn’t take herself so seriously, maybe she would take a chance on being happy.

What I thought about Win Big

After Everly Wynn wakes up in Wyatt Bell's bed, she's torn between staying away from him or going with her strong attraction to him.  And it's not one sided -- there's a definite spark between the two of them that has playboy Wyatt inwittingly falling for Everly.

When an online photo threatens to become a PR nightmare, the decision gets made for them both and they engage in a fake relationship for the media.  Only their feelings for each other are real, and they'll have to deal with some past history before they can move forward together.

I have really been loving this series.  There's a definite "dynasty" feel to it overall, and there's some great family drama.  And the romance part hasn't disappointed at all -- Wyatt and Everly are both steamy and soulful with each other. And there's just the write amount of conflict to resolve to get their HEA.

If you are looking for a hockey romance series, I would recommend this series from Kelly Jamieson.

Review: Winter Tales by Tiffany Reisz

Winter Tales (The Original Sinners #8.7)
by Tiffany Reisz An Original Sinners Christmas Anthology

Return to USA Today bestseller Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series with Winter Tales, a collection of three fan-favorite Christmas novellas plus a brand-new novella exclusive to this anthology.

In December Wine, the long-awaited story of Nora Sutherlin's first meeting with Nico can finally be told. Nora enlists her editor (and sometimes lover) Zach Easton on a mission to track down Kingsley's long-lost son. Nicolas "Nico" Delacroix turns out to be young, strikingly handsome, and very French. He wants nothing to do with his father...but everything to do with Nora.

This special holiday-themed collection also includes the novellas Poinsettia , The Christmas Truce , and The Scent of Winter (previously available only as ebooks). A bonus short story starring Søren rounds out the Winter Tales anthology.

What I thought about Winter Tales

With Winter Tales Tiffany Reisz has put together a wonderful collection of winter themed short stories set in the Original Sinners world.  I started out reading this (and bad on me for not reading this closer to release date ) with the intention to just read the newest in the bunch, but ended up reading the entire offering. There's something about Tiffany Reisz's characters and her writing that this reader in and won't let me go.  It's like visiting old friends.

In December Wine, Nora and Zach go looking for Nico in France.  I really like how these stories reveal little bits of a larger puzzle that the reader doesn't get to see until Ms. Reisz lets you.  It's an intriguing and sometimes frustrating way to compose a story.  It really keeps things interesting.

This story had me thinking about secrets and the trouble knowing a secret can cause and had me examining my own feelings regarding marriage fidelity.  I like that about this series.

Fans of the series definitely need this.  It's hard for me to say how it works for new readers.

I loved the time I spent revisiting with these characters reading Winter Tales. The characters fascinate me, and it's all good.

Release Day Review: 5 stars for Meet Me On Love Lane (Hopeless Romantics #2) By Nina Bocci

Meet Me on Love Lane

(Hopeless Romantics #2) by

From the USA TODAY bestselling author of On the Corner of Love and Hate comes a romantic comedy about a woman who grudgingly returns home to small-town Pennsylvania, only to find herself falling in love—not only with the town, but with two of its citizens.

Charlotte Bishop is out of options in New York City. Fired, broke, and blacklisted by her former boss, she’s forced to return to her hometown of Hope Lake, PA to lick her wounds. Although she’s expecting to find a miserable place with nothing to do, she is pleasantly surprised to discover it is bustling and thriving.

She’s only supposed to be in Hope Lake temporarily until she can earn enough money to move back to New York. She’s not supposed to reconnect with her childhood friends or her beloved grandmother. She’s not supposed to find her dream job running the local florist shop. And she’s definitely not supposed to fall for not one but two of Hope Lake’s golden boys: one the beloved high school English teacher, the other the charming town doctor.

With a heart torn between two men and two cities, what’s a girl to do?

A perfect blend of humor and heart, Meet Me on Love Lane is the second in a new series from USA TODAY bestselling author Nina Bocci that is sure to charm fans of Josie Silver and Sally Thorne.

What I thought about Meet Me On Love Lane

What a joy!  I love a good small town romance where the town is almost like another character, and Meet Me on Love Lane did that for me.  I really liked this story and was immediately drawn into it.

Charlotte escapes the city in the middle of the night, returning home after a long absence from the town but also her friends and family.  It changes Charlotte to some extent, but she gradually finds the pieces of herself she lost when she was living in the city.

I really enjoyed Charlotte's journey and her rediscovery of her home town and old friends.  Henry is wonderful and I just loved his and Charlotte's story. His friend Nick provides a lot of fun, and grandma adds a bit of spice as does the new town doctor. There's lots to like here, including the return of Emma from the first book in this series.

If you are fan of small town romance and romances that value the woman's journey, I think you might like Meet Me on Love Lane as I did.

Does the flap of a butterfly’s wings in Brazil set off a tornado in Texas?
In my case, yes, it does.

Will the truth set me free? Or will it imprison us both?

My name is Victoria Armstrong, and this is my story…I think.

What I thought about Chase The Butterflies

Wow!  What a mind bender!  Unexpected twists and turns made this book really interesting for me, so I don't want to spoil that for other readers, but I will say that there was a point in this book that I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what was going to happen.  Chase the Butterflies is creative and a different sort of romance, and I really liked the story and the sentiments behind it.

Victoria's life is shattered, and somehow she has to learn to move forward again.  Things get complicated when Jude arrives. Victoria knows that he's important to her life, she just doesn't know how. That importance turns into something much more, and there's clearly a serious romantic connection between them.  Finding out more about that connection brings one of the many surprises in this title.

I really did love this story, mostly for it's investigation into death, dying and the afterlife and what happens to those left behind. Chase the Butterflies is a touching story and I will say there were a number of pages that had me choked up.  If you are looking for a different sort of romance and like surprises, you might just like Chase the Butterflies.

Review: One Christmas Eve (Cedar Street #2) by Shannon Stacey

They couldn’t be more different. Or more perfect for each other.

New York Times bestselling author Shannon Stacey returns with a warm and cozy opposites-attract Christmas story.

Zoe Randall is busy living her life as she damn well pleases. She’s back in her favorite town, her divorce in her rearview mirror, and living out her childhood dream of running a bookstore with her cousin. She has no interest in the uptight nerd who opened his boring-ass business next to her shop…until he complains about one of her sexy window displays.

Then it’s game on.

Preston Wheeler knows he takes life a little too seriously. But when the saucy bookseller next door starts pushing his buttons, he can feel that changing. Beautiful, vivacious Zoe challenges him in all the best ways, and soon he’s pushing her buttons right back: teasing and flirting all the way through the holiday season.

As Preston loosens up and Zoe is treated to the man behind the suit (particularly his forearms), she realizes she’s more interested than she cares to admit. And Preston comes to see the beauty—the absolute delight—in adding Zoe’s bright splashes of color to his once very black-and-white existence.

What I thought about One Christmas Eve

I really liked this sweet holiday story.  Preston is an estate planner and Zoe owns the bookstore next to his office.  They get off to a bit of a rocky start, but that means they are always thinking of each other, and their attraction turns from slow burn to a flame after a kiss.  While they may be opposites, I thought they really worked well together, and Preston isn't really quite as "boring" as he thinks he is.

There's a really cute bit with Zoe and Preston communicating via books they share with each other.  And while there really aren't any surprises here, I really thought this romance works well as a holiday themed novella and it left me feeling good.  There's a nice heat level and One Christmas Eve ends with a heart-warming look into the future, which I loved. Love this cover too!

Enjoyable, sweet, romantic holiday romance.
