Early Review: Cash (Lucky #2) by Garrett Leigh

Cash is a car mechanic with a secret. Head down, sleeves up, he hides from the past as much as his shattered heart, until a reluctant stumble into a Tottenham bar ends in the one night stand of his dreams.

Hunt saboteur Rae can’t believe his luck when he wakes up the next morning. Cash is gorgeous, and the hottest hook up he’s ever had. He doesn’t expect to see him again, until a twist of fate lands him on Cash’s doorstep a few months later.

United by a cause that’s broken Cash before, they are drawn together. They have more in common than they ever imagined, but with Cash haunted by the past, and Rae so tangled in the present, it’s not long before love isn’t enough to keep them alive.

What I thought about Cash
Garrett Leigh's books always make me feel like I've been on some exotic excursion to a place I've never been, and Cash is no exception.  A continuation of the Lucky series, this book works well as a standalone.

I just adored the subject matter here.  Rae is a "sab" or saboteur working with others of a similar mind to stop the illegal hunting of fox and other wildlife.  This was of interest to me having seen these sorts of hunts on the farm lands adjacent to my own home in the US. The preservation of these beautiful creatures really touched my heart... and then there's Rae and Cash together.

Cash has been keeping a secret from those he hangs with, including Lucky and Dom from the first book in this series.  I loved seeing those two again!  I knew he had some secrets!

When Cash and Rae hook up and then realize later on they have a shared commitment to stopping the hunt, both are confused and a little conflicted between their feelings for each other and their dedication to protecting the wildlife.  Their relationship was subtly written by Garrett Leigh and I loved that they worked out their situation without using sex.  They both end up having to make some serious decisions about their lives and how they want to spend it.

There's lots of heart-thumping action in this book and a wonderfully emotional ending that had me turning the pages.  I just really liked so much about this story.  It was refreshing, interesting and Cash and Rae are just so good together.

Definitely recommended.

An ARC was provided for review.
